last night i wanted to watch the news to see what the weather would be like today (just fyi, they were wrong, it is still raining) and the newscaster was talking about a new museum opening in San Francisco called The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD). it was really sad, I was quite disgusted because she pronounced diaspora wrong. According to the dictionary it should be pronounced “di.as.po.ra”, but this woman pronounced it like “dia.spore.a”. a better way to write that would be like dia (Spanish day) spore (as in what some bacteria do) a (like you would say “A dog” – not “ah” but a hard “A”)
don’t you just love the news? sigh
