26.8.03

well, i have completed my first week of law school. i will give you in "brief" what i have learned:
P: me, 1L law student
D: Boalt law school, berkeley california

relevant procedural history: my body revolts under stress (see supposed ulcer during final year at scripps) 1.pain
2.physical shut down and/or rev up of bodily functions

facts: Thursday August 14, 2003 P (F) commenced law school orientation at Boalt pursuant a law degree (Juris Doctorate)
-August 14-15 she continued administrative tasks and took classes
-August 16-17 F worked on homework (already assigned before any class meeting)
-August 18-19 F and module 2 attended 7 class periods of 4 separate classes: Contracts, LRW, Criminal law and civil pro classes Mon and Tues go until 6:30 and during breaks F reads so that she can sleep at night. she also gets to school at 9 in order to read.
-Wednesday Aug 20 the mod and F have a realization that they can not keep up current practices and attempt to maintain sanity. F accomplished this by contacting Phatty and Krotchy RA for advice and help. they are law school angels.
-Thursday and Friday are full of new assignments and admin duties in addition to reading during all class breaks.

** F has found many new friends including Jenette Brown (formerly from HHS 1999) and kate and doug and so on in Mod 2
** Boalt law school is like the H building at Harbor High and they don't have enough classrooms so they move things at will
** F is freaked out, often answers wrong and reads very slowly and feels stupid but enjoys the topics/learning law A LOT.
Rule of law: F IS a law student at a top 10 university and that alone is an accomplishment

Holding:Blood tests are coming back and once f is healthy think how much better she will do in school than she is even doing now!
F will most likely make it through law school, if not with HH then at least with P for the first semester.
If F does not make it through first semester with P then she will know she has tried and will be happy to move on to something else which was fated to be.
F is also considering being a dean, professor, wills and trusts atty. or any other occupation where she can work one on one with ppl in a layed back environment and bring a dog to work.

comments: many first week activities should have been done in orientation rather than the first week rather than the first week because that would have saved a lot of confusion!
