so today i realized why i have been having so much trouble with law school measures of quality....i didn't realize that these people were taking this seriously. i did a mock test today in legislation i was excited by the fact that we were seeing which cannons we could use! but then i realized that people (including the professor) were trying to reconcile the decisions, this means that they had to assume that the judge(s) have reasoning for everything and that the reasoning makes sense! no wonder i can't do this. it is like pretending you are in an alternate reality. in "the supreme court are sane-ville" this would be the reasoning and the other case would have a similar reasoning and nothing would contradict. but here on earth, this is not my understanding. the way it works now is that the things contradict and you are supposed to explain why in a reasonable manner (not like oh the judges were ass holes, they are prejudice republicans, they changed their minds as they aged, they found god or talked to her,or there are completely new judges who believe something different and were appointed by someone different!!!

i should have known that being a critical legal scholar/deely ingraned cynisysm would be a burden when actually in law school and i am supposed to be buying this shit. i feel like Gloria Steinum, dressed up in the playboy bunny outfit, everyone assuming i am one of them, but i'm actually just infiltrating the innerscanctum.

so i should just stop now... i can just go through the steps for the next three weeks and the next two semesters and then i will be free to write a tell all book about dressing up like a lawyer to discover this false world they all live in (and to learn how to be a true bitch, which was a nice perk)

actually this part really has worked. i have no patience for 1) the slow 2) the rude 3) the stupid people in the world. i am patient with old people (unless they are driving) and children (unless they are violent) but everyone else can fuck off. the people at the bank, the grocery and the post office especially, not to mention the homeless and undergrads who fling themselves off the sidewalk in front of your car.

Candice says that is what going to law school really does to you. everything is done in 6 minuit incruments (this is how time is billed at law firms) and if you have gone 6 mins wihtout doing anything, you're wasting my time.

here are some examples of actual (how to be an ass) teachings in lawschool:
1) talk over someone who is saying something you disagree with
2) if someone is not telling you what you want to hear, lead them or trap them into saying what you do what
3)interrupt someone at any time you don't like what they are doing
4)you only have time for negative feedback never positive (the postive feedback is me not saying anythign to you)
5) get the sense of what the professor/judge/magistrage/mediator wants to hear and give it to them.
6)if the law doesn't support you, just argue a cannon which allows the judge to do something else he may want to do.
7) everyone wants to hear what you have to say and even if they don't you can convince them that they do.
8) bullying works
9) fear works
10) threats work
11) being a woman and being unfeminine/agressive is a catch 22 in the law
12) everything has to fit into the rules of court/law school-- forced curves, law is truth, bla bla bla
13) you are never as important as me
