We have completed our first cruise… here is the rundown
Nay
The frozen fish in the dining room
The loud obnoxious teenagers, overweight and rude white (and every other color) trash that, along with their stench, seemed to pervade the ship.
Windows that don’t open
Lifeboat drill and stinky lifejackets
Being without our baby for a whole week
Because walking the beach is better than walking the ship
The pool that is the size of a postage stamp and probably includes a hardy helping of staphylococcus
No educational activities on the boat (no learning please!)
Shitty shows (carnival needs some singing and dancing lessons)
Not being able to stay in Mexico longer
Yay
NO SEASICKNESS!
The little Indian Jews that we sat with every night (EAZ says that Aaron looked just like Ghandi) they were so cute that we wanted to bring them home with us.
To EAZ protecting my innocence as she scared off the teenage boys from looking at me and the other ladies at the topless deck
To Mexico… I love it… art! color! People think I speak real Spanish, the fish tacos are better than Rubios and the people are nice (although pushy with the selling sometimes)
Mama sleeping up in the bunk bed and having her own hidey hole
Ipods and the new EAZ play list
The sun and lying in it (yes with sunscreen!) and becoming a different nationality
Horsies that we rode:J
Our new favorite artists Remedios Varo… come by the house to see some of her work.
Sheets turned down and mint on pillow and towel animals
Edi and Suparta our waitstaff
So the consensus is that we love Mexico and plan to come back very soon to a place where we can eat, snorkel, ride more horsies, and stay at a resort where we can walk the beach, and spend more time adventuring around one place. We will also be willing to take another cruise, on a few conditions:
1) a room with a balcony because then you can lay outside *and even sleep outside??*and the rooms with the plain windows don’t open! We will also consider bringing our own pillows and blankets given that the ones provided were not quite up to our snobby standards.
2) Perhaps a G/L cruise (or G/L family one) so there is no fear of homophobia, less moronic teenagers, and no stupid breeders…somehow the faults of gay people seem more palatable (hot body contests for the boys and sex everywhere… whatever I spend 24/7 with a gay man and it no longer makes me bat an eye) and the up sides are much further up (cute families, good people watching, good conversation, maybe make more friends, probably more education and activities that are more our style). One that is longer so that we can stop in more places…
