life has been fairly interesting for us lately as opposed to our normal boring life.

last thursday we got to see nancy. it was very nice, we got to see lots of pictures from france and we basically just got to catch up with her. i wish she was closer to us (or we were closer to her) because i always enjoy spending time with her. she got to meet macy and sit on our new couch. we went to dinner at a restaurant we have liked in the past (however it wasn't super great that evening). i got some new book recommendations (always exciting!) i was thinking the other day how i would describe/explain her to others. i guess i could just say she was a prof of mine in college, however, since i'm a scientist and she's an artist that doesn't really explain much. i think a friend might sound a little odd, and she's not really that. i think the best way to describe her is like my second mom. i don't know...i guess i'll have to think about that a little more...

friday wasn't too exciting, but saturday we woke up and i checked our e-mails to find out that a prof of ours had a baby. well, she didn't have the baby, but somebody else had it for her and her partner. we were very excited for her and proceeded to do some web-shopping for an appropriate gift to send to the little bugger. we had to find something that was queer even though i am sure it won't be anything special as they will probably already have lots of queer items for the baby. hopefully it will come soon so that we can see it and forward it on. exciting! yay to the new mommies and little boy. i'm interested in seeing how this kid will be raised...as it is a boy and has two mommies and one of them is a women's studies prof and from my experience doesn't deal with too many male students. hmmm......

saturday night was the boalt drag gala. i was excited because i got to strap and pack. i didn't look as buff as i'd have liked in my military pants and tight tee shirt as i'd hoped, but i had a fantastic hat. f had a fantastic hat too! i think we looked pretty good, not as slutty as many of the others, but we liked the way we looked. doug has a picture of the three of us, maybe when i get it from him i'll post it. the drag performance was not fantastic. i guess you can't expect much when they are free, but i expected something that was tolerable. they made me quite ill. one had the huge thick glasses and was referred to as a "cow" by her fellow queens and couldn't walk in her heels. they all had really bad drag queen lip quivers and this is something that is super important for queens to do well. despite the bad queens, the night was a success and i the queer caucus raised quite a bit of money for the new fellowship.

sunday was the least exciting day of all...we watched the cat in the hat which was horrible. f couldn't finish watching it and i finished watching it in fast forward. nothing like the grinch, don't waste your time if you were contemplating it. hmm....amanda i spending the night tomorrow night and i think tonight we might go to fresh choice for dinner as we need a good salad and f's mom owes us a dinner.

happy passover. we are putting our seder off until next weekend when we will go to santa cruz and celebrate with f's mom. i think that is all for now, if i come up with anymore i'll post it later.

bye.
