we wanted to write something about our fabulous weekend! last thursday we left and started our drive with lauren and kathy to sarah's weddding. We made it safe and sound and had a wonderful time! This whole thing has been a long time in the making. It began when we drove to Seattle this last summer and stopped to see sarah and matt in Corvallis, OR. We had lunch and at the end, Sarah told us that She and Matt were engaged :) very exciting! Since then we had been totally psyched to get together for the first willis wedding (even if it meant coming back from england as we had planned and though we would have to do). It worked out much better than we thought and in fact we were here in Santa Cruz close to Berkeley where Kathy is and close to Palo Alto where lauren is... this meant that we could have a willis/phat road trip.
with weeks of planning and coordinating, we picked lauren up on thursday afternoon and together we went to get Kathy. After we were all together, we were off, up out of the bay area and on to hwy 5 for the long haul. we stayed in yreka, right on the border of cali and oregon. then friday morning we were off again for the second half of the trip to hood river. on our way from portland to hood river the scenery was gorgeous. we drove right along the river and there were waterfalls too. it was so pretty! we got to hood river about 3 and checked into the hotel. It was right on the river. we had a handicap room so our bathroom was huge, great for three primping girls and e. we all had showers and then went to the rehersal dinner. we were all a little nervous to have to meet all of sarah's huge relatives and matt's not so big ones. after the rehearsal dinner we all went bowling because apparently living in the middle of nowhere that is the big thing to do! Sarah has her own bowling shoes and ball. Saturday we got to sleep in a little and f and i took a walk in the morning by the river. we had breakfast and bummed around the town a little before we went back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. The actual wedding was very nice except for the ass hole ex-boyfriend who decided that he wanted to take pictures of f's and k's breasts in their beautiful dresses and try to come on to them at all costs. F told him that no body wants to be on America's Sleaziest home videos! ASS!
The wedding was beautiful, and sort of stimulating to be at.... lots and lots of different types of people.... as Jaques said when all the PO and SC people posed for the photo: "look, it is over a million dollars of education in one shot!" We talked to Chenny, Matts friends (mostly PO people), sarah’s cousins, Ingrid (sarah’s sister who is a welcomed sister;) and Eric (sarah's brother). It was just interesting to have all of these people who are totally different in one room.
Most of the trip was filled with a lot of driving, walking in hood river's beautiful scenery, catching up on each others lives, dressing-up, hysterically laughing and rehashing every second of the wedding and our time at Scripps for hours on end, crying, hugging when we realized how much we miss each other, teasing each other, dancing wildly at the wedding, singing along to all types of music in the car (and on the street, as kathy is always singing:)... basically, the willises and phats ignoring the rest of the world. It was fantastic.
photos to come soon....
